The Primitivo, among the most renowned native vines of Puglia, also present in other areas of Southern Italy, found its preferred terrain in Puglia, especially around Manduria. Its name reflects one of its main peculiarities, i.e. an earlier ripening than other varieties, in the first ten days of September.
Recently many went back to adopting the traditional tree form of the vines, the so-called Puglia small tree, while working on decreasing the volume of grapes and on more careful wine-making techniques, which allowed for the vinification as single wines as well as in combination with other native vines from Puglia and other regions, highlighting the value of the oenological production of this region at international level.
The Primitivo yields wines of a dark, intense colour, well balanced, with a fruity and spicy bouquet.
